The Yakima Tennis Club lost a great friend this week - Deborah Krautwurm. Although she had been turned to the "darkness" of golf she still loved our club. She usually came out to watch Calcutta events and see her friends. Deb had served on our board and chaired the board as President during her playing days. She and Senator Curtis King started the Fun in the Sun tournament which they modeled after the Sunriver TeamCup Tournament that she loved. It was also not usual for her to show up at USTA to watch us play. When I was raising money for the playground she was one of the first, as a non-member, to write a check. She believed in YTC, the greatness of tennis, and this community.
There are no words that can describe the loss to her friends and this community.
A graveside service will be conducted at Terrace Heights Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011. A memorial reception will follow at the Yakima Country Club from noon to 3 p.m.
